A New Update on My Dad’s Recovery Journey

I wanted to share a quick update about my dad, especially for those who have been following our journey and checking in on us. It means a lot to know people care.

Over the past year, my dad has made real physical progress. He can stand and walk again — something that wasn’t possible before. Seeing him regain that strength has been a huge relief for our family, and it reminds me how far he’s come.

But even with that progress, we’re still facing some challenges. The main issue now isn’t physical — it’s his memory and thinking. He remembers the past really well, but the present is harder for him. Recent information doesn’t always stay with him, and that can be confusing for him and for us.

His neurologist spent a long time evaluating him — not just a quick check, but a full assessment of his memory, attention, reasoning, and problem‑solving. I’m grateful they took the time to understand what he’s going through. It helps to know he’s getting careful, detailed care.

As I’m supporting my dad through this stage of recovery, I’m also learning how to take care of myself and stay connected with others.

So I wanted to ask a few questions to anyone reading this — men and women who have supported family through long recoveries:

⭐ What helped you cope while caring for a family member?

I’d love to hear your suggestions or things that made the journey easier.

⭐ Can men and women be friends during times like this?

I believe friendship is important, especially when life gets heavy.

⭐ How can I ask for help as a friend on Instagram?

I have a good cause — joining environmental community efforts — and sometimes I need support sharing my posts since my parents can’t help with that.

⭐ Is anyone here on Instagram?

I’d love to connect with people who want to support or share ideas.

📢 Looking for your support and your voice.

I’m trying to stay engaged and social while also being there for my dad during his recovery. It’s been two years now, and every bit of encouragement helps.

Feel free to text me — I’d really like to hear your suggestions and experiences.
