A New Chapter: Continuing the Journey of Recovery

I am excited to share another update on my father’s remarkable journey to recovery. Since the last update on July 23, 2024, we have made significant strides, each step bringing us closer to a complete recovery.

Home Evaluation and Safety: As we prepare for my dad’s return home, one of the crucial steps has been evaluating the safety of our home environment. My doctor would need to ensure that every aspect of his living space is safe and accessible.

This involves:- Home Evaluation:

Visiting my dad home to identify any potential hazards, such as stairs or uneven steps, and making necessary modifications to ensure safety.

– Assisting Devices: Installing aids like handrails and non-slip mats to prevent falls. Simple additions such as a stair on the toilet can make a huge difference in safety.

– Professional Guidance: Ensuring that my dad’s care does not require continuous medical supervision, allowing him more independence at home.

Doctor’s Visits and Recommendations: The doctors have been incredibly supportive, visiting regularly and providing essential updates on my dad’s progress. During our latest discussions, Dr. Lewis emphasized the importance of gradual transition and ensuring all necessary precautions are in place before considering home services.

Collaborative Efforts for a Safe Transition: The team, including doctors, social workers, and case managers, is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. They are working on setting up home services, training for reasonable accommodations, and ensuring that my dad’s return home is both safe and successful.

Family Involvement: My dad doctor are also ensuring that family members are prepared to assist.

My mother has been proactive in addressing concerns, especially about my dad’s bathing needs. They’ll have to arranged for a special bathtub chair to ensure he can bathe safely and comfortably.
