Main Event hosted in Firefighter's Park

3948 W 73rd Ave, Westminster, CO 80030

– Block Party Experience

Today was my very first time visiting a block party hosted by Main Event.

I’ve been to many block parties in the past, but this one felt different louder, brighter, more energetic, and full of people enjoying games, music, food, and the whole outdoor vibe. However not feeling myself the connection or the vibe.

Walking around felt active. There were families, groups of friends, people playing arcade games, and others just hanging out. Even though it was my first time at this block party, it felt welcoming. I do see people seeing everyone having fun in their own way.

I’m still learning how to join new places and talk to people, so this was a good experience for me.

⭐ What Stood Out to Me

- People laughing and playing games

- Music and food stands

- A mix of all ages — kids, teens, adults

- A friendly, relaxed atmosphere

Not sure though if I plan come again.

🫶 For Men and Women Who Have Been to Block Parties (New or Experienced)

I’m sharing this the same way I would talk to someone in person.

If you’ve been to block parties before:

- What do you recommend I try next time besides just saying hi or waving

- How do you ask for help when you’re shy

- What’s your favorite thing to see at block parties

And something I’m still learning:

- Can men and women be friends while visiting events like this

šŸ“± Asking for Instagram Help

Sometimes I need temporary help with Instagram not all the time, just when I’m trying to grow my page for a good cause and community involvement.

If someone is with me during the day:

- How can I ask for Instagram help respectfully

- How can friends help if they aren’t on Instagram

I want to know the people way how to ask without making anyone feel pressured.

šŸ’¬ Easy Questions You Can Answer by Text

You can text me at 720‑461‑5891:

- Have you been to a block party

- What should I try next time I go

- Are you on Instagram

- How do you ask friends for temporary help

šŸ“ Why I Ask for Texts Instead of Comments

Because of my learning disabilities and memory challenges, texting is easier for me than reading long comment sections. Text messages is my communication accomodation:

- stay focused

- not lose track of conversations

- remember who I’m talking to

It’s not about privacy it’s about communication that works better for me.

šŸŽ® Looking Forward to Coming Back

I want to return to block parties and Main Event outings. I’m trying to be social, engaged, and connected with others.

I’m also looking for a group to join not just people my age, but a group from disability organizations or day programs that go on outings like this. I’ve asked around, but some people aren’t sure how to suggest it.

If you’ve been to block parties, I’d be happy to hear your suggestions.

Feel free to contact me directly.

What should I try next time I visit?
