As a child, there are certain experiences that stick with you, coated in a layer of sugar-coated nostalgia. One such memory that I hold dear is my visit to Hammond’s Candies at
5735 Washington St Denver, CO 80216.
It was a field trip back in 2003 when I was attending Valverde Elementary School, and let me tell you, it was every bit as magical as you’d imagine a candy factory to be.
Walking into Hammond’s Candies was like stepping into a real-life Willy Wonka’s factory. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of freshly made candies, and the sight of colorful confections being crafted was mesmerizing. We got to see the entire candy-making process, from the mixing of ingredients to the shaping and wrapping of the final products. The highlight, of course, was getting to sample some of the delicious treats right off the production line.
The tour guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating tidbits about the history of Hammond’s and the art of candy making. I remember being particularly amazed by the giant candy canes and the intricate designs of the lollipops. It was a day filled with wonder and delight, and it’s a memory that still brings a smile to my face.
If you’ve ever visited Hammond’s Candies or have similar sweet memories from your childhood, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Let’s share our sugary stories and relive those magical moments together! 🍭🍬
